Between 1943 and 1957, when I lived next to the James Humphrey School in East Weymouth, my mother sent me to the local stores for groceries almost daily.  We referred to the two most conveniently located stores as Carmenucce’s and as Isabel’s.  At the time, we took them for granted.  Today, we think of them as reminiscent of a bygone era….WLIIAM PEPE: Corner stores of the 1940s and 1950s
